Eagles deal Cougar great to Rams

The Philadelphia Eagles today traded rookied receiver Brandon Gibson of Washington State to the receiver-needy St. Louis Rams for linebacker Will Witherspoon, the AP reports. "We were presented with a unique opportunity to improve our team," said Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo. Gibson, a Cougar record-setter from Puyallup, was drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round this past April. He made the Eagles' roster, but given their depth at wideout, he hasn't been activated for a game yet this season. "Brandon is a young receiver that we have followed since training camp," said Rams general manager Billy Devaney. "He has good size, good hands and had a very productive preseason for the Eagles. His familiarity with our offensive system should help his transition to our team."
