A high energy level and success have been trademarks of April, one of the NFL's most respected special teams coaches. April joined the Rams this season following four seasons (1996-99) with his hometown New Orleans Saints.
April was an assistant coach for 13 years on the collegiate level. He began his career as a graduate assistant at Southern Mississippi in 1978 and took his first full-time position at Tulane in 1979. April coached defensive line and secondary for the University of Arizona (1980-86) and was secondary coach and kicking game coordinator at Southern California (1987-90).
April was a four-year letterman at tight end and linebacker at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, Louisiana, from 1972-75. A native of New Orleans, Bobby and his wife, Charlene, have one son, Bobby, and four daughters, Julie, Jamie Lee, Angela, and Jaclyn. They reside in St. Louis.
