Born Grant James Williams in Hattiesburg, Miss…attended Clinton (Miss.) High and lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track…very active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes…married to Emily…has three daughters – Meegan, Madeline, and Sarah Elizabeth. Acquired 8/19/02 in trade with New England for undisclosed draft choice…signed by Patriots as unrestricted free agent from Seattle 3/17/00…played for Seahawks from 1996-99…originally signed as undrafted rookie free agent by Seahawks 4/22/96. 2001: Started four of 14 regular season games played at left tackle for New England…saw action in all three postseason contests…played on offensive line that blocked for rushing attack that gained 177 yards on 39 carries (4.5 avg.) and scored three touchdowns vs. Indianapolis 9/30…started at left tackle in place of injured Matt Light at Denver 10/28…started at left tackle the next week at Atlanta 11/4, blocking for 135 yards rushing on 34 carries (4.0 avg.), including team’s first 100-yard rushing performance of season (RB Antowain Smith, 117 yards)…started at left tackle the following week vs. Buffalo 11/11, blocking for Smith to rush for 100 yards on 20 carries, for two touchdowns…replaced Light at left tackle in second quarter of Super Bowl XXXVI vs. St. Louis 2/3. 2000: Started eight of 15 games at right tackle…blocked for Patriots first 100-yard rushing game of season at New York Jets 9/11, gaining 100 yards on 34 carries…paved way for Patriots to gain 301 total yards against Indianapolis 10/8…part of offensive line that did not allow a sack at Indianapolis 10/22. 1999: Broke into starting lineup for Seahawks during second week of season and started the next 15 regular season games, as well as AFC Wildcard Game vs. Miami 1/9…helped block for RB Ricky Watters who rushed for 1,210 yards. 1998: Played in all 16 contests for Seahawks on special teams and saw limited action as backup tackle…played on offense at right tackle at Philadelphia 9/6. 1997: Played all 16 games for Seattle, including eight starts; four at right tackle, four at left tackle…earned first career start vs. San Diego 9/21. 1996: Played in eight contests on special teams…one of two rookie free agents to make team.
