| Born Chad Garrett Cota in Ashland, Or…attended Ashland (Or.) High…married (Christina), with one son (Chase).
Signed by Rams 9/3/02 as unrestricted free agent…spent part of 2002 training camp with San Francisco 49ers…played three seasons for Indianapolis Colts (1999-2001), one season with New Orleans (1998), and three with Carolina (1995-97)…originally a seventh round draft selection (209th overall) by Panthers in 1995 NFL draft. 2001: Started 16 games for second consecutive season…finished third on team with 110 tackles, and had two interceptions for 21 yards, five passes defensed, and one fumble recovery. 2000: Started all 16 games…finished third on team with 104 tackles…added two interceptions and eight passes defensed…tallied season-high 2 tackles at Chicago 11/5…posed five tackles, one interception, and one pass defense at Seattle 10/15…totaled 11 tackles and two passes defensed at Miami 12/17…started in AFC Wild Card game at Miami 12/30…finished contest with 13 tackles, two interceptions, and two passes defensed. 1999: Started 15 games…finished fourth on team with 101 tackles and had eight passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery…recorded season-high 12 tackles and one pass defense vs. Kansas City 11/7…inactive vs. Miami 10/10 with knee/ankle sprain, the only missed game of career…started AFC Divisional Playoff game vs. Tennessee 1/16 and notched six tackles. 1998: Was 16-game starter for New Orleans…ranked second on team in tackles with 96 and added four interceptions, five passes defensed, two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. 1997: Started 16 games…recorded team and career-high 153 tackles, two interceptions, one sack and one fumble recovery…had eight double-digit tackle games. 1996: Played in 16 games with two starts…posted 63 tackles five interceptions, one sack and one fumble recovery…recorded eight tackles in first NFL start vs. St. Louis 10/13…recorded interception and first career sack vs. Pittsburgh 12/22. 1995: Saw action in 16 games, primarily on special teams…tied for team lead with 20 special teams tackles. |
