| Born James LaVell Whitley 5/13/79 in Decatur, Ill…four-year letter winner at QB and DB at Norview (Va.) High…set school records for passing yards (1,980) and touchdown passes (22) while completing 121 of 225 passes…rushed for 1,182 yards on 184 carries…recorded 290 tackles and seven sacks, while making picking off a school-record 19 passes and forcing nine fumbles…returned nine kickoffs and punts for touchdowns…chosen as second team all-America by Prep Football Report…named to all-USA second team by USA Today…earned all-district, all-county, and all-state honors as senior…started two seasons on varsity basketball team and was on track team.
Signed by Rams 2/26/02 as free agent…only street free agent to make Rams roster in 2002…played 2001 season for Montreal Alouettes of Canadian Football League…originally signed by Montreal as free agent. 2001 Canadian Football League: Played in 14 games for Montreal, starting five…totaled 27 tackles, four special teams tackles, one fumble recovery, and one sack…tied for fourth on Alouettes with four passes defensed and tied for third on team with two interceptions.
