| Born Damione Ray’mon Lewis in Sulphur Springs, Tex…earned Texas Defensive Player of Year honors and rated top defensive lineman in the country by Super Prep, adding Blue Chip Illustrated all-America and Dream Team honors at Sulphur Springs (Tex.) High…named to Fourth Annual Schutt Sports Group High School all-America Team...two-year first-team all-state selection...team leader in tackles two straight seasons...tallied 167 tackles, including 100 solo stops as a senior...also racked up eight sacks, five fumble recoveries and one interception...registered a pair of safeties, including one to help the team advance in the state tournament...three-year starter along the defensive line...team advanced to the quarterfinals of the state tournament three successive seasons, finishing each year with 12-2 records...chosen to play in Oil Bowl featuring all-stars from Texas and Oklahoma...averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds as a member of the basketball team...was also shot putter on track team with a personal best of 55’3”…related to hurdler McClinton Neal, who won a gold medal in 400-meter hurdles at 1992 Olympics and ran in 1996 Atlanta Olympic games…single…resides in Chesterfield, Mo.

Four-year starter at Miami…started 42 games during his career, finishing with 220 tackles (91 solos), 15.5 sacks for minus 89 yards and 31 stops for losses of 200 yards…named a third-team all-America as a senior by Sports Xchange and The Sporting News...earned all-Big East Conference honors...recorded 39 tackles (18 solos) with three sacks for minus 21 yards, seven stops for losses of 28 yards, caused two fumbles and deflected three passes...came up with 12 quarterback pressures from right defensive tackle position…was an all-Big East second-team choice junior season...started at right tackle, recording 57 tackles (25 solos) with 6.5 sacks for minus 37 yards and 12 stops for losses of 46 as sophomore started every game at right defensive tackle, leading down linemen with 52 tackles (19 solos)...had two sacks for minus 10 yards and three stops for losses of 13 yards...played in every game as a freshman, starting eight contests at right tackle and one at right end...finished with a career-high 72 tackles (29 solos), four sacks for minus 21 yards and nine stops for losses of 33 yards...redshirted as true freshman…liberal arts major. |
