Born Heath Spencer Irwin in Boulder, Colo… earned first-team all-America honors from Super Prep and Tom Lemming’s Prep Football Report as senior at Boulder (Colo.) High…named all-state, all-county, and all-conference while playing offensive guard and defensive tackle…also lettered in track, where he competed in shot put and discus…participated in the Dolphins Charity Fishing Tournaments to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation…assisted in building a house for Habitat For Humanity…father, Phil, was a standout linebacker at Colorado (1968-70)...married to Molly, with a daughter (Bailee) and a son (Houston)…resides in St. Louis. Veteran blue-collar guard…tough, smart, dependable, durable…aggressive run-blocker…veteran offensive lineman who can play guard or center…signed by Rams 5/4/02…played for Miami Dolphins in 2000 and 2001…spent 1996-’99 with New England after being drafted by Patriots in fourth round (101st overall) of 1996 NFL Draft. 2001: Played in all 16 regular season contests, starting the last seven…started the Dolphins’ AFC Wildcard Game against Baltimore at left guard…started at center in place of injured Tim Ruddy at Buffalo 11/25, his first career start at center, and his first start as a Dolphin…started the last six games of the season at left guard. 2000: Played in 13 regular season games, all in a reserve role in first season with the Dolphins…inactive for one contest, dressed but did not play in two others…appeared in both playoff games in a reserve role. 1999: Played in 15 regular season games with 13 starts at left guard for the Patriots…inactive for one contest…started 11 of the first 12 contests…inactive vs. Indianapolis 9/19…saw action in a reserve role at Indianapolis 12/12 and vs. Baltimore 1/2/00. 1998: Played in 13 regular season games with three starts at left guard…made first start of season and the second of his career when he replaced an injured Max Lane at Buffalo 11/15…started again the following week vs. Miami 11/23…sustained high ankle sprain in the Dolphins game and was inactive for each of next three weeks (vs. Buffalo 11/29, at Pittsburgh 12/6 and at St. Louis 12/13)…returned to starting lineup for season finale at New York Jets 12/27…saw action in reserve role in AFC Wildcard Game at Jacksonville 1/3/99. 1997: Played in all 16 regular season games with one start…made first start of NFL career at Buffalo 11/9…appeared in both playoff games in reserve capacity. 1996: Did not see any playing time as rookie...inactive for all 16 regular season games and each of the Patriots’ three playoff contests…fourth-round draft choice (101st overall) of New England in 1996.
