| Born Richard Joseph Coady IV in Dallas, Tx.…all-District and all-Metroplex selection at J.J. Pearce High in Dallas, Tx...named team MVP...also lettered in basketball…father, Richard, played for Chicago Bears (1967-75)… single...resides in Creve Coeur, Mo.
Will battle for increased playing time at strong safety…good instincts...Rams’ third-round selection (68th overall) in 1999 NFL Draft. 2000: Saw action in 12 games with two starts before being placed on injured reserve 12/19 with neck injury…finished season with 25 tackles (19 solo), three passes defensed, one quarterback pressure, and 10 special teams tackles…came into game late in fourth quarter to replace Devin Bush, who left game with hamstring injury and made two solo tackles and two special teams tackles vs. San Francisco 9/17…recorded team-high three special teams tackles vs. Carolina 11/5…made first career start at strong safety vs. Washington 11/20 and finished second on team with 10 tackles (nine solo), one pass defensed and one QB pressure…started in second consecutive game vs. New Orleans 11/26 and led all defensive backs with career-high 11 tackles (six solo) and recorded two passes defensed. 1999: Played in 16 games in reserve role at both safety positions, leading all rookies with 16 special teams tackles...recorded his first interception against rookie quarterback Tim Couch in the fourth quarter vs. Cleveland 10/24...had then career best three tackles vs. New Orleans 11/28. |
