| Born Trung Jered Canidate in Phoenix, Az…Coaches Magazine all-America, Super Prep all-Far West and all-State selection at Central (Phoenix, Az.) High... lettered four times in track, twice in basketball and three times in football...rushed for 1,617 yards and 27 touchdowns and caught seven passes for 216 yards and four touchdowns as junior...four-time honor roll student in high school...resides in St. Louis.
Blazing speed…great burst to the hole…can go the distance, homerun hitter…chosen by Rams in the first round (31st overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft. 2001: Played in 16 games (two starts) and three postseason contests…established career highs in rushing (78 rushes for 441 yards and six touchdowns), receiving (17 receptions for 154 yards), and kickoff returns (36 returns for 748 yards)…returned one kickoff for 22 yards in postseason…returned two kickoffs for 55 yards with a long of 32 at San Francisco 9/23…rushed four times for 19 yards and scored first career touchdown, on nine-yard run in fourth quarter vs. Miami 9/30…made key seven-yard reception on fourth down and four with 5:34 left in fourth quarter and scored game-winning touchdown on one-yard run with 4:20 left in game vs. New York Giants 10/14…made first NFL start at New York Jets 10/21, rushing 23 times for 195 yards and two touchdowns, catching two passes for 37 yards – it was the most rushing yards in first career start since Gerald Riggs ran for 202 yards for Atlanta 9/2/84…first touchdown in second quarter came on option play from WR Az-Zahir Hakim, with Hakim running the first 12 yards before lateralling the ball to Canidate for the last 44 yards…also scored on play where ball was snapped directly to Canidate who ran 12 yards for the score in third quarter…rushed 16 times for 145 yards with a career-long of 45 yards, scoring one touchdown and returning three kickoffs for 64 yards vs. Carolina 11/11…first time since 11/10/96 vs. Atlanta that two Rams running backs (Marshall Faulk 183 yards) rushed for over 100 yards in the same game (Lawrence Phillips 14-106-1, & Harold Green 13-106-2)…returned four kickoffs for 87 yards at New England 11/18…returned three kickoffs for 84 yards with a career-long of 40 yards at New Orleans 12/17. 2000: Played in three games as reserve running back and on special teams…rushed three times for six yards and made one reception for three yards before being placed on reserve/injured list with wrist injury 11/13…inactive for next six contests with ankle injury…did not play vs. Carolina 11/5…carried two times for five yards and made first career reception for four yards at New York Giants 11/12. |
