Wasted Season (A Sad Haiku)
Fumbles, mistakes, drops.
The Rams hurt themselves and lose.
Disappointment reigns.

Sunday's offensive output can be summed up with four numbers: 5, 6, 1, and 3.
5 Turnovers
6 Dropped passes
1 Missed field goal
3 Points on the scoreboard.

Well, at 5-7, the season is all but officially over. After an 0-5 start, the Rams fought hard to be 5-5. Then, it fell apart and the Rams wasted a great opportunity. The greatest offensive show on turf died under Kurt Warner's watch. The worst news is the Rams lost to quarterbacks Danny Wuerffel (If you're asking who, he wears #17 for the Washington Redskins) and A.J. (Adam Joshua) Feeley (again, if you're asking who, he's the 3rd string QB #14 for the Philadelphia Eagles). We'll see how the last 4 games go but this looks like a horrible drop-off after last year's 14-2 record and Super Bowl appearance.

In this game, there were some highlights and I'll focus on the positive:

Defense Tries to Save the Day
With the offense playing pathetically, the D stepped it up! They forced 4 turnovers and prevented the Eagles from putting in the kill shot. They played with gusto and fire. They gave the Rams life and kept this game from getting out of hand early.

D Overrules Replay
After being robbed on Torry Holt's "fumble" in the second quarter, the Rams D saw justice served when they forced and recovered a fumble from Philly's Dorsey Levens (#25). Thank you D!

Throw Away the Damn Ball, Kurt!
Pardon my french, but Kurt Warner needs to remember that throwing away the ball is okay. Stop holding onto the ball (or not holding in the case of all the fumbles!) and start throwing the ball up & away. All I want is it to be in the area of a Rams receiver. Come on, Kurt. PLEASE!?!

Sunday Ticket Special
I love Sunday Ticket! While awaiting the Rams game, I got to see the Tennessee Titans tie the game against the New York Giants. I missed the overtime field goal but man was I juiced to see the Giants lose again. This gave the Rams hope as they hit the field against Philly.

Also on the tube was an opportunity to see the Falcons struggle against Minnesota. The Vikings had that game and could have really helped the Rams by beating the Falcons. Instead, the Falcons won on a dramatic run by Micheal Vick in overtime. Though the Vikings could have won that game (the difference ended up being a blocked field goal and the inability to score after having 1st and goal from the five-yard line with 1:11 left in the game), I'm glad to see Michael Vick in a different division than the Saint Louis Rams.

Ram on,
Don
