State of the Rams Union and Future

I've endured all years since the Rams move to STL. With the talent on this team,
this year (and last year's Superbowl) are things nightmares are made of. I've
listened to the local talk radio shows till I'm blue (and gold) in the face since
the loss Sunday and had to vent.
I'd like to offer a few topics of discussion based soley on my opinion and
would like to cuss/discuss any of the following:
First and foremost, I've never been thrilled by Mike Martz as head coach. Even
if he'd won the Superbowl last year I still wouldn't be sold. Great Offensive
coordinator, mediocre at best coach. Can you say Norv Turner? Time management
skills. Still haven't learned after two years of head coaching - 'nough said.
Against the Bears, he didn't have faith in Wilkens for a 48 yard FG. Why? So
he could take a couple of penalties and end up with a punt that bettered field
position by about 10 yards? He's got to make better decisions than that. Gambling,
all out offense is one thing, out-thinking yourself is another.
Kurt. Two time MVP. Great football player. Great humanitarian. Great to STL.
All around great guy. But business is business. The defense needs work and the
Rams need room in the cap to sign existing players next year. With Bulger showing
his stuff and due for a salary of $380k +/- next year, it seems logical to move
Kurt. Hate to say it or see him go but...... I don't think he'd be an MVP in
too many other systems around the league but he could provide a lot of help
through a trade. P.S. How can anyone say the loss to the Skins was his fault
is beyond belief - okay, maybe the first five games of the season were? I'm
not here to say to dump him because of this years performance because it's happened
with the best. Bulger has shown he knows the system, has a strong arm, is more
mobile and has shown acceptance by the team.
Trung Candidate. Where does he fit in? Historically oft hurt. Speed to spare.
Doesn't see the field real well. Not patient enough for blocking. I though it
was a great move when they picked him up in the draft but, hey, I though Lawrence
Phillips was going to be a saviour too. He doesn't seem to do well on Special
Teams either.
Special Teams. Which leads me to Bobby April. Sorry Bobby, gotta go. Special
Teams is as bad as I've seen it dating back to "Trick Play" Brooks.
I used to look at the future in the Special Teams - London Fletcher, Leonard
Little, Tommy Polley all come to mind recently for players who've excelled on
Special Teams and then moved to a starting spot. I don't see anyone taking the
lead. Coverage has been suspect all year. Why isn't Troy Edwards taking kickoffs?
Linebackers. Don Davis where are you? Jamie Duncan are you still on the team?
I hardly hear either name called on Sundays. Grant, where are you too. The DL
seems to be lacking in something. Just haven't put a finger on it. Since Arch
got moved to his role as what I would call "light linebacker" he's
pretty much shined. Where is everyone else? I think Tommey could be a future
Pro-Bowler, but he can't do it all by himself. Rams are one Offensive Line blue
chipper away from another Superbowl. Cheers.
