The quarterback from Oklahoma has had some rough moments in his first few days of training camp. But Friday afternoon’s practice session at Rams Park was what many thought was his best performance of camp.
“He had some nice throws there, didn’t he?,” Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said when he met with reporters following practice. “I thought he did a nice job today.”
The 2008 Heisman Trophy winner made several impressive throws throughout the afternoon session — including working through his progressions to find open receivers — and generally looked more comfortable out there than he had previously in camp.
“As time keeps going, the weeks keep going on and practices keep going on, he just getting better and more comfortable and getting his swag back,” wide receiver Laurent Robinson said. “He’s just going out there and playing football and not getting nervous and not thinking about it. He’s doing good.”
Wide receiver Donnie Avery said the rookie is getting better every practice.
“He’s great,” Avery said. “He can make great reads. He can see down the field. He can see things that we can’t see and he gives us advice as well.”
