Head Coach Jim Haslett
November 27, 2008
(Opening Remarks)
“I guess the injury update’s the same. (QB) Marc (Bulger) participated. (T) ‘O’ (Orlando Pace) participated, so did (RB) Steven (Jackson) and that’s about it right now.”
(On LB Will Witherspoon not taking a lot of snaps at practice)
“No, we’re kind of limiting him on snaps. He was doing some different things, but we’ll see how he goes. He’ll play, but I don’t know what the exact role will be right now.”
(On if there’s a chance LB David Vobora could start)
“There’s a chance.”
(On if he’s seeing the explosiveness he wants out of RB Steven Jackson)
“As the practice wore on I thought it was better, but we’ll talk to the coaches tonight and Steven and see how he is and make sure he’s 100 percent. He still has to put it in the ground and go, but I thought he got better as the practice wore on.”
(On if RB Steven Jackson had any setbacks after practice yesterday)
“He was a little sore, but came through it ok.”
(On if he thinks they won’t know if RB Steven Jackson is ready until he gets hit)
“I don’t think it’s the hit, he can take a hit that’s not going to be the issue. It’s whether he can take the constant running on it for the game. The hit will do nothing, I mean, that’s not going to bother him at all. It’s the actual just pushing off it and running.”
(On how he will spend the rest of his Thanksgiving)
“Well, after I leave I’ll probably go home and watch all the games like everybody else. What else do you do?”
(On if he has the players diet on a limit tonight)
“No, no weigh in tomorrow. As a matter of fact, they’re done now. There’s no meetings, no lifting and obviously there’s some food in there for them, but they all have plans. A bunch of guys are getting together. A bunch of players are having the guys that don’t have family over and a couple coaches are having some of the players over.”
(On if it’s good to see the players bonding despite the team’s win-loss record)
“It’s a good group of guys and I’ve said that from the get-go. We just haven’t played well and from that standpoint I think it is. They care about one another. We’re just not getting it done on the field as good as we’d like, but from that standpoint they’ve been good.”
