QB Marc Bulger
(On if he had enough time to throw the ball)
“It’s one of those things where we try to game-plan and try to get the ball out quick. We did a good job early of getting the ball out, but we fell behind again. It’s a fine line if you hold the ball and wait for your guys to try to get open, but you don’t know if the protection is going to hold. Sometimes you throw quicker than you want, but you’ll go back on film and see that you would’ve been sacked. It’s a guessing game and that’s not a good thing.”
(On if the offensive drives were better than last week)
“Better, but they’re just spurts. I’m accustomed when you get rolling it’s drive after drive after drive. It’s not just three or four plays in a row. That’s what we’re missing now. We need to somehow get to that.”
(On the touchdown catch by Torry Holt)
“It’s up there. I’ve seen Marshall (Faulk) make some catches, but for Torry, I think it overtook that Seattle one of a couple of years ago. It was a pretty special catch.”
(On his approach to this game and this being a tougher game on the schedule)
“You never think about even losing. I know fans, we like to look and see the schedule and mark your wins and losses before the year, but as a player, you think every one is going to be a win. You can’t go into a game thinking you’re going to lose. We were closer today than the score indicated, but at the same time they played well and I want to give them credit. I know we’ll keep saying how we beat ourselves, but for the second week in a row, the better team won today.”
(On if he thought the team played well in the first three quarters even if not in the fourth)
“That’s no consolation. I think the older guys realize that every game in the NFL comes down to the fourth quarter. We spoke about it in training camp. We wanted to be a fourth quarter team. We have two horns that go off in our practice to emulate that. Right now, we are certainly not playing like that.”
(On what Coach Linehan said after the game)
I promise (Linehan’s) doing everything he can. We have to help him out. I know some guys on the team spoke up a little bit after in the locker room, and I think they said enough so he didn’t have to speak much, but he knew how we felt. The bottom line is we let him down again.
