The morning practice was very interesting, and it was much more intense on the Rams’ offensive side of the fields because the Tennessee defense is so feisty.
Within the first three plays, Richie Incognito was jawing with a couple Titans defensive players, and there were many instances of players being thrown to the ground.
“It was rough out there, but it’s good to establish some toughness,” wide receiver Torry Holt said. “At times, it was excessive, but I think it will be better this afternoon.”
At one point Coach Linehan and Coach Fisher brought their teams together and told them to settle down a little.
They were in full pads this morning and the Rams offense was moving the ball really well. There was a series of 14 pass plays where only 1 throw hit the ground, which is very encouraging. However, when the lower string guys came in, Tennessee dominated the Rams. The Tennessee defense is very intense.
The Rams are getting guys back from injuries, and only 5 guys didn’t practice today. Even Donnie Avery was running drills without pads on. He looked pretty good, looked fluid running routes. Keenan Burton made some good catches today. Drew Bennett said he got in better conditioning and better shape this offseason than last, and it is showing so far.
Orlando Pace was getting a lot of work this morning and Pace looked good in what was a pretty intense situation.
