Conference Call With Bucs DT Warren Sapp - Sept. 18
RamsNation News Bulletin
on why the bucs are so tough for the rams:
"They’ve given us fits too. We don’t go to sleep easy playing the Rams. You have to come out with your a-game and you’ve got to be special to beat them."
on rams offense this year:
"I think the one thing that they’re doing is they’re a little off here and there, penalties and turnovers and different things like that. But it’s nothing that concerned them before, I’m sure it’s nothing that concerns them now, they’ve just got to get themselves back to playing their style of ball."
is this a fun game, a rivalry game?:
"It’s always been a game that’s a struggle because when you’ve got that many athletes on the field at one time, it’s going to be special."
on current team attitude and how jon gruden has changed that:
"I think the one thing that most people get caught up in when you deal in coaching changes, it’s really not that many differences that you’re going to go through that takes you out of your daily routine or puts you in a situation where you’re uncomfortable. This man understands football and understands this league. He’s been around, been on four or five teams. He understands exactly what’s going on. It really hasn’t been a major overhaul, as you would say that he’s taken us out of our rhythm or something like that. It’s just different for our offense because it’s definitely a different system."
has the defense been the same?
"Yeah, we’ve had our same intensity, the same fire. He just added something to it because now he attacks us in ways we’ve never been attacked before, early in the year. It really aided us to where we can have a chance to carry this ball club early."
on the confidence of coming off a shut-out:
"That’s the Baltimore Ravens, this is the St. Louis Rams, there’s a little difference in the offensive personnel. A little bit, not a lot, just a little bit."
on working with a head coach that makes almost as much money as he does:
"I think he makes more money than I do. He’s better looking than me too, so who cares?"
was it fun doing that cover with him?
"It’s fun anytime you get around this guy. He’s a coach of all ages, believe me when I tell you this."
on rams RB marshall faulk:
"Number one. He’s the best, no doubt about it. Hands down, he’s the best. Where’s his weakness? Most guys you can get them in a situation where you say, he’s not tough enough to run in between the tackles, Faulk will run in between the tackles. Faulk will run outside the tackles, Faulk will run around you, over the top of you, through you, anywhere you want it. Catch it, block you, whatever. He’s the total package. He’s always been the total package, it just took a couple years for him to find a system to put him in the way he can really showcase his ability. He’s been doing it for the past four or five years, but he’s been doing it his whole career, he’s even more special now."
