Rams defensive tackle Brian Young was in the right pace at the right time Sunday evening, and made good on every chance he had to grab a loose football. Who knows if he would have had more success had he not missed a significant posrtion of the second half with severe cramping that required intravenous fluids to relieve.
Young fell on three Baltimore fumbles, which ties a league record for opponents fumbles recovered with several others, the last being LB Steven Boyd of the Lions and safety Daryl Williams of the Seahawks, both recording a recovery "hat trick" in 1998.
The three big plays by Young gives him five fumble recoveries for the year already, tying Young with Andy Robustelli, Bill Jabko, Ed Meador, and Johnnie Johnson for the most by a Rams player in a season.
Young is still a long way from the NFL record of nine opponent's recoveries in one season, set by Don Hultz of the Vikings in 1963.
