Long's return on Thursday also coincided with the return of center Scott Wells
, who missed time during OTAs and has been slowed by injury at the beginning of training camp.
Having Long and Wells back on the field on Thursday means that St. Louis had, for the first time during training camp, its expected starting five along the line working together: Long at left tackle, rookie Greg Robinson
at left guard, Wells at center, Rodger Saffold
at right guard and Joe Barksdale
at right tackle.
How that group comes together will be one of the biggest story lines of training camp and the regular season. Long is optimistic that it can be a strong group and the veteran left tackle said that the Rams' offense can be exciting this season.
