Draft Preview - Baltimore Ravens

All of a sudden the Ravens have some draft needs at receiver, tackle, linebacker and in the secondary. It's a good thing they have a dozen picks and GM Ozzie Newsome calling the shots.

Baltimore Ravens
2013 draft picks:
1st round (32), 2(62), 3(94), 4(129, 130), 5(165, 168), 6(199, 200, 203), 7 (238, 247)

It's been quite the off-season for the Super Bowl champs, as their roster, especially on the defensive side of the ball, will look different. Gone are linebackers Ray Lewis and Dannell Ellerbe. Also departed are safeties Ed Reed and Bernard Pollard and outside linebacker Paul Kruger. Lewis and Reed are future Hall of Famers.

On a good note the Ravens were able to add defensive end Elvis Dumervil, safety Michael Huff, and linebacker Rolando McClain. That's a lot of transition for the Raven defense.

Baltimore did lock up Joe Flacco and it was for a ton of money. Marcus Spears and Chris Canty should provide depth on the defensive front.

Now GM Ozzie Newsome will try and work his draft magic for the Ravens. He's one of the game's best and for now Baltimore has a dozen picks in this draft to bolster their roster.

Draft Needs
1) Linebacker
The Ravens need to go inside and out in this draft. Will they get aggressive and move up the first round to have their pick between Alec Ogletree, Kevin Minter and Manti Te'o, do they stand pat or even move out of the first round? For Newsome it's likely nothing or moving back.

There are plenty of outside linebackers/ pass rushers. Unless they got real aggressive they will have to wait and grab someone with their second pick or beyond. Jamie Collins would be a nice fit in that defense with their second or third pick.

2) Safety
The Ravens are in prime position with their first selection to take a very good safety. It's a big year here at this position and there's a chance only Kenny Vacarro is off the board. One other could be gone. They could also wait. Sharmko Thomas, Phillip Thomas, Duke Williams, and Bacarri Rambo will be available later on.

3) Wide Receiver
Where do they go find themselves a receiver or two? It's a deep year with many prospects having close to equal ability. Then it depends on the team and how their board sets up with this position.

4) Offensive Tackle
Baltimore could use another tackle and if a guy like Menelik Watson is there at 32 they should grab him. His upside is tremendous. If they choose to wait Terron Armstead could be had perhaps with their next selection.
