Another work week is in the books and it’s time for the final pre-draft Roving Ram.
On the docket today we have: Jets moving to where? Detroit has its eyes set, the usual re-signings and an update on the Stringer lawsuit.

- Jets Trade Up To #4

The New York Jets will be selecting their draft pick in place of where the Chicago Bears would’ve been. The trade of picks has began what looks to be a batch of pick trades across the boards. The Bears forfeited their 4th pick for the Nos. 13 and 22 picks and another undisclosed pick. The Jets are most likely looking to snag defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson who was actually considered a very likely choice for the Bears if they would’ve stayed at the spot.

- Detroit Seriously Eyeing Rogers

With new uniforms and new philosophies, the Detroit Lions are looking quite seriously at picking Wide receiver Charlie Rogers with the second pick of the draft now that former Southern California QB Carson Palmer’s deal done in Cincinnati. Now that the Bengals have struck a deal with Palmer, Detroit can start negotiations with any remaining prospects and, like Cincy, can announce a deal before the actual draft. The other three players that Detroit is eyeing, Terrell Suggs, Terrance Newman and Andre Johnson, haven’t heard more than talk from the franchise thus far.

- Stringer’s Widow’s Case against Vikings Dismissed

Former Minnesota Viking Korey Stringer’s widow’s case against the Minnesota Vikings franchise has been dismissed. A judge did, however, allow her $100 million dollar suit to go against the team’s training camp physician and his clinic. Stringer’s widow contents that her late husband did not receive adequate treatment during a July 2001 training camp. The new lawsuit is scheduled to go to court on June 9th.

- Redskins Sign Former Dolphin

The Washington Redskins picked up free agent defensive tackle Jermaine Haley after the Miami Dolphins opted not to match an offer sheet. The offer sheet that the Redskins proposed was a four-year $3.95 million offer. The deal greatly restricts Washington’s choices in this weekend’s draft with only picks in the second, third and seventh rounds. The Redskins feel that Haley is better than any seventh round draft pick that they could’ve acquired during the draft.

- Jackson Signs with Seahawks; Dugans with Cincy and Schau with Texans

Restricted Free Agent Darrell Jackson signed on with the Seattle Seahawks on Friday, agreeing to a one-year contract. He was Seattle’s second leading receiver in 2002 with 62 snags for 877 yards and four trips to the endzone. Ron Dugans has also resigned with his team, the Bengals after a season which saw him as a leading receiver and special teams tackler. Finally, the Texans have resigned Ryan Schau on Friday as well. Schau is entering his fifth season and is projected as a back up if he makes the team in 2003.

That’s the latest and greatest for today and this week, folks. I’ll see you all after we have some new editions to add to the Rams roster. Take care.
