It's Only a Draft

In the past, I've seen and heard moaning, groaning, and even yells of glee
when the draft pick is announced. I have to warn you to not fall in love on
the first date. No matter whom the Rams take through the weekend, draft day
is not the solution. It's one piece of the team puzzle. As you watch the draft,
please remember these tips:
1. College stars are college stars. Success at the college may not transfer
as a pro. For proof and some sad stories, look for previous Heismann winners.
2. Today's undiscovered gem is tomorrow's reach. Don't buy the hype.
3. These guys are going to be rookies! Don't expect the world. They need time
to mature and learn.
4. Today's draft "score" or "grade" is irrelevant. Today's
D - is tomorrow's B.
5. The draft is a professional guessing game. No one "knows".
Remember that the Rams are building their team through last year's pick, off-season
trades and free agent signings. Don't forget all the guys that were on the team
last year.
So as you watch the draft, listen and learn but try to remember, it's fun &
you can learn a lot but remember it's only a draft.
