Jackson Approaching Milestone

ST. LOUIS — Rams running back Steven Jackson will go into Sunday's game in New Orleans needing just 15 rushing yards to hit the 1,000-yard mark for the sixth consecutive season.

"It just means I'm doing my job at a consistent level and I hope I can do so until I decide to hang up the cleats," Jackson said following Thursday's practice. "This is something I've accomplished not on my own, but from my teammates, wide receivers blocking on the edge. So this is a joint effort, once again eclipsing 1,000 yards."

Jackson, 27, has rushed 260 times for 985 yards, an average of 3.8 yards per carry, and scored a team-high four touchdowns. He has also caught 30 passes, which ranks third on the team, for another 250 yards.

The 6-foot-2, 236-pounder has appeared in 96 career NFL games. He has rushed for 7,692 yards on 1,808 carries, an average of 4.3 yards per carry, and scored 45 rushing touchdowns.
