The Rams lost their eighth unrestricted free agent Monday when defensive
tackle Jeff Zgonina signed a four-year contract with the Miami Dolphins.
The deal includes a $500,000 signing bonus with base salaries of the
veteran's minimum ($755,000; $760,000; $765,000 and $770,000) for each of the
four years, making its total value $3.55 million.
The Rams offered nothing more than a one-year contract at the minimum to
retain Zgonina, who was named a defensive captain by coach Mike Martz before
free agency even began.
