Without Cudjo, the Rams would have had just two healthy defensive tackles, with Darell Scott sidelined by a high ankle sprain.
To make room on the roster, the Rams terminated the contract of cornerback Kevin Dockery, who was unlikely to play Sunday because of a hamstring injury. Dockery practiced on a limited basis this past week, but only with the scout team. Because Dockery is a vested veteran, he is not subject to waivers. He will still be paid his full salary for the week and is likely to be re-signed.
Releasing Dockery meant the Rams didn't have to cut a player needed at a different position or special teams, and subject them to waivers.
Injured players expected to be inactive for Sunday's game are wide receiver Laurent Robinson, tight ends Billy Bajema and Michael Hoomanawanui, linebacker Chris Chamberlain, safety Craig Dahl, Ryan and Scott. That leaves only one other inactive designation, which will likely be guard John Greco, who has been inactive for the first two weeks.
It's virtually a certainty that wide receiver Brandon Gibson and tight end Fendi Onobun will be active for the first time this season. Cornerback Justin King, inactive last week, will also play.
