The team reached an injury settlement with Payne Friday, waiving him from the injured reserve list.
Once he clears waivers Monday, Payne will be free to sign with any of the other teams in the NFL. It’s possible, if the Rams have any issues with their safeties, that he could return later in the season, after Week 10.
If that happens, the Bears would receive the conditional draft pick included in the April trade. If he isn’t re-signed, the Rams keep the choice.
